Welcome to The Blog

In case you don't know me I'm Alev, Hi. I've been a makeup artist and hairstylist for almost 10 years and I'm only just starting to feel experienced enough to write about my work - in fact it's taken me 40 years to find my "voice." I mean, that might be a slight exaggeration but let me explain.

If you're new here this blog will be where I share more of my life behind the scenes as a makeup artist. Real weddings, Q&As with other suppliers and just anything that I think might be helpful or entertaining. So with the revamp of The Blog I thought I'd drop a little bit about me.

I turned 40 this year and with it came an unexpected wave of anxiety. I found myself stressed and breaking down about it, which now I'm on the other side feels positively laughable because strangely in the middle of all of that I've never felt more confident, seen myself with more clarity or felt more grounded in my whole life.

After my ADHD diagnosis last year, ageing in a society that hates seeing women get old and getting medicated (thank you Elvanse) I finally feel like I’ve stepped into the version of myself that I’m meant to be. I'm less scared of being told no and I'm definitely done shrinking.

This is the blog I’ve been waiting to write my whole life and it hit me like lightning bolt - it is now or never. It is time to share my view on an industry that I love and hate all at the same time. Time to talk about being self employed and neurodivergent. Time to connect. We're leaving fear behind in 2025 apparently.

Whether you're here for beauty chat or if you're thinking of booking your wedding with me, I hope what I write on these pages here does something for you. Helps, teachers, reassures, or at the very least entertains you for a few minutes.
